Just a few weeks ago Activate Consulting released its annual Activate Tech & Media Outlook which forecasts the key trends and presents the most critical insights in the technology and media industries for the year ahead.
Over the next few blog posts, we would like to highlight some key trends we found particularly intriguing and would like to share with the Brandverge community.
In this blog post, we would like to introduce the importance of Super Users. The term “Super Users” is used to describe the group of users that spend a disproportionately large amount of time across media, such as video, gaming, podcasts, messaging, and more. Activate Consulting predicted that technology and media companies will focus on targeting and reaching Super Users over the next few years due to the increased attention they will deliver to brands and advertisers.
Making up around 22% of the U.S. population, Super Users are known to spend much of their time multitasking, which leads to an increase in their overall time spent with media – for example, scrolling social media while watching streaming TV. Statistically, Super Users are younger, more affluent, have a higher level of education, are highly connected, pioneers of the Metaverse, and more. With these qualities, technology and media companies are going to work to find aspects of their marketing strategy that appeals to who these users are.
